Rubin’s Cannula Uses
The Rubin’s Cannula is used to introduce carbon dioxide into the uterus and to assess the patency (openness) of the fallopian tubes for both diagnostic and minor therapeutic procedures.
- Inject radiopaque dye into the uterus for an X-ray to check tube openness.
- Used to determine whether fallopian tube blockages are the cause of infertility.
- Clear mucus plugs or minor obstructions in the tube to treat blockage.
- Facilitate detecting uterine or tubal conditions following an abortion.
