The Jackson vaginal speculum is used to retract the posterior or anterior vaginal wall to provide clear exposure of the cervix and pelvic cavity for routine pelvic examination and diagnostic procedures.
- Opens the vagina to access the vaginal wall, cervix, uterus, and uterine contents.
- Depresses the posterior vaginal wall to stabilize and view lesions for cervical biopsy.
- Retracts the vaginal mucosa and wall to access the uterine pedicles during vaginal hysterectomy.
- Protects delicate mucosal lining from tearing, pinching, or localized tissue trauma.
- Exposes tissues during anterior or posterior colporrhaphy during pelvic floor repair.
